Apartment, Condo & High-Rise Movers in Dayton

Three floors and no elevator, a downtown loft with a single freight car to reserve, a condo board that wants a certificate before we start — Cody has carried Dayton apartments building by building since we opened. Kevin and I put our name on every one of them.

Same-day figure on paper

Point us through the place room by room, flag the stairs and tell us where a truck can sit — a firm number comes back that same day, in writing.

One flat rate, nothing bolted on

Pads, shrink wrap and tape already sit inside that figure, so nothing gets re-tallied after the ramp comes down.

Packing, some of it or all

Kitchens get dish barrels, closets get wardrobe cartons, and anything glass or stone rides in a crate we build to fit.

One lead from first box to last

Whoever sizes up your home is the lead on the truck and the one who runs the closing walk-through — no hand-off midway.

Apartment, condo and high-rise moves built around the thing that sets the pace: the building itself. We handle the elevator window and the paperwork so your move-in day runs clean.

What your building tends to want

  • A certificate of insurance on file first — Diane sends it straight to management, no charge.
  • The freight elevator gets reserved up front, and we pre-stage boxes at the door so the whole slot is spent carrying, not standing idle.
  • Curb or loading-zone space reserved for the truck where a downtown Dayton loft leaves no room at the door.

What an apartment move runs

The job Written flat rate
Studio, elevator building $360–$540
1-bed walk-up $520–$780
2-bed, no elevator $700–$1,000
3-bed condo $1,060–$1,600

In a house instead? That’s local moving. Want the boxes packed too? See full packing.

What the Flat Rate Already Covers

Everything listed here is baked into every job as standard — not one line reappears as an extra when the final bill lands.

  • A certificate of insurance issued to your board or management ahead of the date, free of charge
  • Stair flights and the reserved elevator slot built into the price before we roll up
  • A crew that works Oregon District walk-ups and downtown glass lofts with equal ease
  • Upholstery and mattresses padded before they leave the unit, keeping stair grime off the fabric
  • Pads, dollies, shrink-wrap and wardrobe boxes tallied into the number, never tacked on after
  • The same Tobin crew from the pickup unit to the new door, with Cody running the walk-up
  • Two movers at $118 an hour or three at $168, rolled into one signed flat total

Common Questions

Are you a real moving company or a booking middleman?
A real one. Tobin Brothers Moving and Storage is family-owned, licensed and insured here in Dayton — our own trucks, our own uniformed crew, with Ohio PUCO registration plus US DOT and MC authority.
The condo association demands proof of insurance before anyone moves in — do you handle that?
Yes, at no charge. Pass Diane your board or management contact and she issues the certificate, usually within a day, carrying the exact coverage and additional-insured wording your building requires.
The building reserved me only a short elevator slot — can your crew work inside it?
Almost always. Tell Marcus the reserved slot and he sizes the crew to fit it, with boxes pre-staged by the door so the window is spent carrying rather than waiting on the car.
There's no elevator and my unit sits several flights up — will the stairs add charges later?
No. Cody counts the flights during the estimate and builds the carry into the price you sign, so the stairs are settled once, up front, and never billed again mid-move.
Is a weekend move-out pricier than a weekday one?
Same price. Our rate doesn't shift by the day, so a Saturday turnover and a Tuesday one land on the invoice identically — whenever your building opens the elevator.
The move, start to finish

How Our Crew Runs a Move

  1. 1

Free quote — ten minutes, tops

We handle: Tell us how many rooms, whether it’s stairs or an elevator, and the nearest legal spot for the truck; a flat written price follows.

What helps most: Keep any building COI rules and elevator windows nearby — that’s what turns the number from a guess into an exact figure.

  2. 2

We nail down the date and access

We handle: Any freight elevator gets reserved and we clear curb space with the city, so the truck parks at your door instead of down the street.

What helps most: Line up the two dates — when you’re out of the old place and into the new one — and pass us the tighter of the two.

  3. 3

    Wrap & protect

We handle: Every piece of furniture goes under a moving blanket, upholstery gets shrink-wrapped, and bed frames and table legs come apart into bags tagged with their own hardware.

What helps most: Mark each box with the room it’s headed to, and carry papers, keys and anything small and valuable yourself rather than loading them.

  4. 4

Load, haul, set down & review

We handle: Whoever loads the truck is who unloads it — pieces land where you point, beds go back together, and we haul off the packing debris.

What helps most: Walk the place with the crew lead before the truck rolls off, while anything still left to fix costs you nothing.
