Full-Service Packing in Dayton, OH

Hand us the whole house or just the kitchen and the breakables — supplies ride in on our truck, fragile pieces go in fitted crates, and the pack gets its own date so it never collides with truck morning. Kevin and I have run it this way since 2011.

Same-day figure on paper

Point us through the place room by room, flag the stairs and tell us where a truck can sit — a firm number comes back that same day, in writing.

One flat rate, nothing bolted on

Pads, shrink wrap and tape already sit inside that figure, so nothing gets re-tallied after the ramp comes down.

Packing, some of it or all

Kitchens get dish barrels, closets get wardrobe cartons, and anything glass or stone rides in a crate we build to fit.

One lead from first box to last

Whoever sizes up your home is the lead on the truck and the one who runs the closing walk-through — no hand-off midway.

Pack the whole home or hand us a single room — either way we bring the cartons and paper, and build fitted crates for whatever you can’t stop worrying about. You decide how much stays on your list.

The cartons we bring

  • Closets go into hanging wardrobe boxes; the kitchen gets dish barrels and glass-cell kits for the breakables.
  • Made-to-measure crates for mirrors, glass tops, artwork and flat-screens.
  • We break down bed frames, tables and cribs, then bag each piece’s screws and bolts right with it.

Packing, priced plainly

Partial packing runs by the crew hour at the same $118 for two or $168 for three; a whole-home pack is quoted flat once we’ve seen the place, so nothing surprises you on the day. Cartons and tape are in the price either way.

What the Flat Rate Already Covers

Everything listed here is baked into every job as standard — not one line reappears as an extra when the final bill lands.

  • A two-packer crew at $118 an hour or a three at $168, wrapped into one flat total
  • All the boxes, paper, tape and wardrobe cartons come with us — no separate materials line
  • Point out which rooms to pack and the estimate covers those alone
  • Custom-cut crates for glassware, mirrors and Kettering built-ins
  • Oversized pieces wrapped and cushioned inside the room ahead of any narrow staircase
  • Kevin himself leading the fragile and heavy-item rooms
  • Packing scheduled the night or day before the truck, with per-shipment coverage up to a million dollars live from the first box

Common Questions

Is Tobin Brothers a mover, or just a packing service reselling a truck?
We're a full-service, family-owned Dayton mover — licensed and insured, own trucks, own W-2 crew, Ohio PUCO registration plus US DOT and MC authority. Packing is one piece of what our own people do.
I'd like to box the easy stuff myself and have you handle the kitchen and breakables — doable?
That's a common split for us. Point us at the kitchen, the china cabinet and the office, and the estimate covers only those — anything you'd sooner wrap yourself stays off the bill.
Should I buy boxes and tape ahead of the packers' visit?
No — leave the box-buying to us. Boxes, paper, tape and wardrobe cartons all ride in on our truck and are already in your quote, so you won't be counting rolls or dashing to the store mid-room.
My staircase is steep and narrow — how do big pieces come down without a scratch?
Cody's crew wraps and pads oversized furniture inside the room first, then walks it down slow around each landing — what keeps both the dresser and the wall unmarked on a tight Dayton walk-up.
Does an evening or Sunday pack cost more?
It doesn't. The rate holds at seven at night, on a Sunday, or midweek, so scheduling the pack around your work hours keeps the number exactly where it started.
Can you pack the day before rather than on moving morning?
Most full packs run exactly that way. We box the house the day before to keep truck morning calm, and splitting the job across two dates leaves the flat figure on your signed agreement untouched.
The move, start to finish

How Our Crew Runs a Move

  1. 1

Free quote — ten minutes, tops

We handle: Tell us how many rooms, whether it’s stairs or an elevator, and the nearest legal spot for the truck; a flat written price follows.

What helps most: Keep any building COI rules and elevator windows nearby — that’s what turns the number from a guess into an exact figure.

  2. 2

We nail down the date and access

We handle: Any freight elevator gets reserved and we clear curb space with the city, so the truck parks at your door instead of down the street.

What helps most: Line up the two dates — when you’re out of the old place and into the new one — and pass us the tighter of the two.

  3. 3

    Wrap & protect

We handle: Every piece of furniture goes under a moving blanket, upholstery gets shrink-wrapped, and bed frames and table legs come apart into bags tagged with their own hardware.

What helps most: Mark each box with the room it’s headed to, and carry papers, keys and anything small and valuable yourself rather than loading them.

  4. 4

Load, haul, set down & review

We handle: Whoever loads the truck is who unloads it — pieces land where you point, beds go back together, and we haul off the packing debris.

What helps most: Walk the place with the crew lead before the truck rolls off, while anything still left to fix costs you nothing.
