Every estimate, reservation, and finished job we take on at Tobin Brothers Moving and Storage falls under the terms here. We work as a Dayton-based mover that’s licensed and insured, holding US DOT and MC authority whenever a job crosses a state line. Reserving a date with us signals that you agree to them.
How we price a job
- Around Dayton and the Miami Valley, local jobs run on a flat figure. We set it from the crew and the hours the walkthrough points to, and you approve that figure in writing before the ramp ever drops.
- Cross-state jobs come with a binding written estimate that reflects your shipment’s weight, the miles involved, and how reachable each door is — all under our own authority.
- Any estimate we send is good for a full month. After your signature, it only shifts if you tack on belongings, addresses, or services the walkthrough never covered.
Reserving, deposits, and paying
- Holding a date sometimes calls for a deposit, and every dollar of it comes straight off your final total.
- Whatever’s left is squared away the day we wrap up, once everything is carried in and set where you want it. Cards and the other options named when you book are all fine.
- COI paperwork, elevator bookings, and any charge a building or the city adds are arranged by us; wherever a fee applies, you’ll see it on the estimate.
Reschedules, cancellations, and Ohio weather
- Flag any shift in your date or details the moment you know — elevator slots and COI filings lean hardest on lead time. When it’s workable, we slide you to the next open date with no penalty.
- Calling off the move the same day can cost the deposit, since the truck and crew were already committed to your job.
- If a Miami Valley ice or snow storm turns the roads dangerous, we’d sooner push the date than run a loaded truck into it — and your price rides along unchanged.
Protecting your goods and filing claims
- Basic released-value coverage of sixty cents per pound, per item, rides on every job for free; before load day you can step up to full-value protection at the amount you declare, backed by as much as $1,000,000 of cargo coverage on a single shipment.
- If something shows up damaged, note it on the delivery sheet and send a written claim to our office. Under federal rules, a cross-state claim can be lodged any time within nine months of delivery.
- Cash, jewelry, guns, hazardous items, food, and living plants don’t ride on our trucks — keep your paperwork, keys, and small valuables with you.
Holding your things
- Where a job needs short-term storage, that sits inside the same written price as the move, and everything stays locked in our secured space right up to the delivery day you choose.
- The entire time we’re holding your belongings, cargo coverage keeps running.
